Romance Novel Yourself

From the creative minds at mediaBOOM (aka my husband’s company)… comes this fun little activity when you’re bored at work. Romance Novel Yourself www.romancenovelyourself.com puts you or a friend on the cover of a self-created Romance Novel. Check it out… and spread the love. Just like I did for my good friend and co-anchor, Darren Kramer.

Behind-the-Scenes at Rachel Ray

Recently got a chance to chat with Rachel Ray at her studios in New York City. It was her last day of shooting before going on hiatus for the Winter. She was nice enough to show us around before getting ready for her afternoon taping. In case you couldn’t tell from her set and prep kitchen– her fave color is orange.

Join us tonight at Spelling Bee 4!

It’s the Guilford Fund for Education’s biggest event of the year… the 4th Annual Adult Spelling Bee. Join me and Darren Kramer as we host once again this year.

It all happens tonight at 7 p.m. at the Guilford High School auditorium. All proceeds go to support the work of the Guilford Fund for Education. If you have questions about the spelling bee, please send email to: bee@gffe.org or call (203) 671-4773.

Making Over Your Make-up Bag

dd

My good friend and celebrity make-up artist, DD Nickel recently appeared on “Connecticut Style” to help our viewers make-over their make-ups bags. Thanks to DD, my make-up bag is no longer as frightening as it once was.

It’s not too late to either form a team, grab a partner and walk… or simply donate. Anyone can take part.

Something new this year– the Connecticut Down Syndrom Congress (CDSC) is collecting food pantry donations for the Madison Community Services– so bring your food donation to the Buddy Walk.

Trailer Smackdown

Every year, The Brattle Theatre in Boston holds its annual ”Trailer Smackdown”. It’s a chance for area filmmakers to show what they’ve got. This year’s entry had to be based on the fictional movie Union Street. And, taking 2nd place– a trailer shot by my brother-in-law, photographer extraordinaire, Steve DePino.  I make a brief appearance… and am still waiting for my “Best Supporting Actress” nod.

The Martha Blog

martha

So here I am blogging about the fact that I’m officially in the archives of Martha Stewart’s blog.

During a recent interview with Martha, she was insistent on getting plenty of photos for her blog. I wasn’t even aware Martha was such an avid blogger. Check it out– it’s called, what else?… ”The Martha Blog“.

Martha was in town for a book signing at RJ Booksellers in Madison. She was promoting her new cupcake book.

If you click through the photos of her visit on her blog, you’ll see the evening of her book signing, she dined on tree stumps at ‘The Place” in Guilford, which is a cook-out unlike any other– a unique restaurant on Route 1 where all the food is cooked on an open wood fire.

Raiding the Soap Stars’ Closets

OLTL-dresses

While behind-the-scenes at ABC’s “One Life to Live”, my Connecticut Style co-host, Desiree Fontaine and I got to dig through the soap stars’ closets and play dress up for a day. My favorite was a Diane Von Furstenberg dress worn by Jessica Buchanan Brennan, played by actress Bree Williamson. Here’s a glimpse at part of it:
